About the vessel
This beautifully maintained 28ft Timber Montgomery Classic is a rare find and with a rich history a must to inspect. She was built in 1954 for Albert (Bert) Findlay, then commodore of the Royal Brighton Yacht Club (RBYC), primarily for fishing. Her design was based on a Nova Scotian deep-sea fishing smack. Construction was on the Maribyrong River by Montgomery Boat Builders, then famous craftsmen for timber launches and yachts. With a substantial refit completed in 2009 with over $250,000 spent on her, this vessel is for those looking for a timber classic with little maintenance. Although only 28ft, Margarita has a spacious cockpit together with optional tiller steering makes this boat perfect for entertaining friends and family alike.
Powered by a single shaft driven Yanmar 3QM30 (30hp with 1900hrs) Diesel pushing her along comfortably at 8kts and easily manoeuvred with the aid of her bow thrusters, great for parking in those tight spots.
